Create a New Positive Face for the Greater Good!

“A lot of people talk about Unity, but it’s built around their own church group, club, sorority/ fraternity, family, housing community, business, events, etc. And there’s nothing wrong with that, yet once in awhile we need to get together and come to an event that celebrates all of us as culturally diverse Americans, Global citizens and finally, people created by God. ” – Sharon & Craig

Mission Statement:
Unity in the Community, INC is a non-profit that promotes unity though culturally diverse fun events and educational activities for youth and families, inclusive of all ethnicities.

These events attempt to help people meet people’s educational, physical, emotional, financial, and spiritual needs. We include educational activities that help youth develop new skills, regardless of their race or nationality.

  • Diversity is an inclusive concept that embraces everyone. It encompasses race, age, and gender; people with different physical and mental abilities; people from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Culture can be defined as the way of life that is created, learned, held in common and passed on from one generation to the next by members of a given society. Culture includes mores, values, traditions, customs, social behavior, philosophy of life, and worldviews that are shared by a group of people bound together by a common history, geographic location, and language.

Essentially stated, the call for cultural diversity is the call of humanity, imploring us not to judge each other by physical characteristics, cultural values, or philosophical differences. It calls us to understand, acknowledge and accept our diversity because of the unlimited opportunities it provides our nation and the world.
Note: Some groups historically did not or are not sensitive, (even today) to cultural diverse groups. Being more exclusion then inclusion, they may not appreciate the fact that all these different traditions will enrich the USA  both today and in the future.

We hope to get the community more involved in one another’s cultures that exist here in the Richmond Hill/Bryan County and the South East coast area. This site, and the articles written in the local newspapers, shows ideas and ways to try and break down the barriers of Racism, Sexism, Religiosity and Classism within your local community.

Remember, “WE ARE MORE ALIKE THAN WE ARE NOT ALIKE…. WE SPEND MORE TIME FOCUSING ON OUR DIFFERENCES, INSTEAD OF DISCOVERING OUR LIKENESSES AND STILL LOVING OUR DIFFERENCES.”

MLK also said: “An individual has not started living until he or she can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity”

Our Needs/Wants

We now need…

Other people, especially people of color, who live here within the S.E. Coastal area to get in touch with us, if they would also like to help build a new positive face that, will break down stereotypes.

We want to help you get free public exposure for your cause or your service to the people of Savannah..Richmond Hill/Bryan County and within the S.E. Coastal area.

FUTURE

We want to take this idea to other nearby communities within the S. E. Coastal area.
